Costco is selling them, and they're cheap.  But they're garbage.  Hass avocados picked immature with no oil content.  What could be worse than a watery Hass avocado??

.....a few things I can think of that are worse..........A Mexican cartel conflict blood stained Hass....a drought causing, river and well draining, poor people displacing Chilean hass......and many more.

There are at least 7 distinct varieties of Florida Avocado in season and available right now.

Try something other than that payed out hass....maybe you will like one.....a conflict free greenskin (Tropical) avocado.

Not tellin' ya.....I'm just saying!

Ok.  But let's make sure they're from FL and not Republica Dominicana, which probably come with horrible stories of oppression and exploitation, too.

Im guessing most people have never experienced a truly perfectly ripened hass avocado.

I think you're right, Brad!  Even homegrown Florida avocados allowed to stay on the tree longer are much better than the commercial ones.  Although lacking in oil content, they do have decent flavor (but don't make great guacamole).

Ha ha.  I brought three back to Winn-Dixie for a refund and returned the bag my wife bought at Costco!

My wife bought some hass from costco, they were excellent and extremely rich and creamy. I think stores just vary in quality as mangos from the same tree varies in taste.
Donít rush, take time and enjoy life and food.

From Peru or Mexico?  Northern hemisphere vs. southern should make a difference as the seasons are opposite.

Beware of any fruit or vegetable grown 3,000 miles away from where you live.

What is the point of this thread, especially in the "buy-sell" section?

Imported fruit is often picked underripe , is irradiated or hot water treated for fruit flys. Could be Sprayed with who knows what.
You can be paying into a broken food system like Fruitmonger mentioned where profits are put before the needs of the local community and often take advantage like prioritizing water for crops over people.
Having a connection to where your food comes from and what is seasonally available is invaluable.
The more you grow your own and know the farmers or farms your supporting , the healthier your food system and the food system is.
Chilean Cherimoya always tastes horrible imported into California but I am sure there are delicious ones at Markets in Chile. Same for the Peruvian Avocado, they are just an analogy for any imported fresh fruit or vegetable.

Ok, thanks.  I just wanted to make sure I could keep eating peaches, nectarines, almonds, and citrus from CA, and cherries from Pacific NW!
Rob, the point was DON'T BUY, or just to annoy you.
