For Sale: Lucuma Scions/Cuttings
« on: June 08, 2025, 12:13:27 AM »
I got some fresh branch cuttings from a friend's tree that is large, maybe 25 ft tall, it has been fruiting yearly. The fruits on this lucuma tree is the moist type (lucuma de seda) so it is one of the best for eating out of hand, just like the large tree at the arboretum that I posted fruit photos before.

I gave this friend the fruit to try of the lucuma de seda and he said his fruit is just like that one, taste the same.

Here's the cost for the lucuma cutting:

1. Lower 48 states.
2. You must be a TFF forum member for a minimum of 6 months and have purchased from me or traded with me. No exception.
3. I will only go by the messages I receive, not by you posting to buy it below. Very limited cuttings, see photo below.
4. Cost for lucuma cutting is $10 each.
5. Shipping cost is $11, small flat rate box, priority mail.
6. The scions will range from 1/4" to 3/8" diameter cuttings about 7 long each.
7. PayPal payment only, Friends & Family
8. If you are interested, send me a message to purchase. Don't pay for it in advance. Anyone who does will have it refunded, and you will not be able to buy any.
9. I will ship out all orders starting Monday, hope to finish by Tuesday. Branches were cut on Friday.
10. I have the right to refuse to sell to anyone, if you do not get a message reply, you will not be getting any.

I took some photos of some of the branches I cut and will post them later tonight .

These are the branches I will cut for shipment. They are all fruiting branches.
You can see the flowers on them now. Fruits on this tree is very similar to the one in the arboretum, Lucuma De Seda.

I took more photos of the tree (15 yrs old and huge), also tried to take a few photos of the fruit way up in the tree. This tree is about 25-30 ft tall.

Ok, looks like all the tip cuttings are sold now. I only have the thicker portion of these branches for sale.

If there are more request for the tip cuttings, I can see if he would let me get a few more.

Sale will end this Friday.

I did have a question for anyone who was able to root the lucuma cuttings.

If you had success, can you tell me how difficult it was, and about what your success rate was for cuttings you tried to root. I plan to root all the left over cuttings that don't sell this weekend and want to know if it is easy to root or difficult like a guava cutting.

When I go back to see the Sylvia tree to do more air layers, I may get some cuttings for people if anyone is having success rooting them.

How long does it take for the rooted cutting to show any signs of new buds?

I got a few Sylvia guava cuttings to root now. You just need to have a fat cutting and it may root, low % of them, but it works.
Also got air layers growing now so I'm set.

Lucuma seeds are easy to germinate when fresh, maybe in 4 wks it shows tap roots. I got a team of seedling growing now.
