I up potted my lone biqi survivor into a spicier soil mix. It seems to be doing ok. I lost my other biqi and regret not just cutting it up into branches and grafting to the Californica I have. I will cut the male up and graft when it gets over the transplant shock and boosts again. 

I was lucky try 1lb of yangmei fruit and it’s the real deal. One of the better rare fruits I tried with a near perfect balance of sweet, sour, bitter and very juicy. I get the hype now.

Your tree look good. When it sends out red buds, or red new leaves, or leaves with red hue, it means the tree is very healthy. Good luck.

Do you need to thin Reed? My small reed graft is holding too many fruits (marble size), and I thinned some but need to do more if they don’t drop.

I pretty much gave up growing pineapples. Too much investment on space, water, time to get just one fruit in 2+ years, especially since I don’t have the space for it.

That said, WJ/sugarloaf is delicious.if you have space and patience it’s great

Brad my RH is also very tasty. It’s supposed to be the same one that Martha has. Seems Fatter than Kaz’s RH

Ken, thanks for posting the comparison of the Big Jim fruits cut open. The China White is better tasting than either one so you better graft some of this. Send me a PM if you don't have it in your collection. I'm pretty sure the China White will also taste better than the Chian Doll that I grated recently. Next year I should be able to compare the China White and China Doll fruits.

They look great. Can you post a photo of the Big Jim White fruit cut in half. I have many of the China White loquats and they tastes excellent, it's a keeper for sure.

Left is red Himalayan, middle is Australian green and right is the LE Cooke’s select black Pakistan.

They are all tasty. I like the BP the best, then RH and the AG. But my wife prefer the AG the best, followed by BP and RH. They are all worth growing.

I got my cuttings from Oolie and also from CRFG. Both looked the same to me. I grafted them to 4 different multigrafted trees. They cannot compete against other varieties so I had to remove other varieties on one tree

Middle eastern grocery sells them in the town near here.  If they are for sale in a store it will be dried mulberry.  I could dry some and send them if you really want to try it. 

I see amazon sells dried ones also. 

Heres some pics of a couple young trees.  This one is the white pakistan tree kaz grafted and sent me a few years ago.  It has a lot of fruit for a tiny tree.  My kids love going to pick them.



This one is the red himalayan and I have a few otjer types grafted on it also.

Brad is the red one the Red Himalayan? Did you pick them early? Mine gets dark almost like black Pakistan if I leave them on the tree longer.

I like Black Pakistan, RH, and the Australian green. Waiting for persian black to ripen. PB is a very slow grower for me with very short internode distance. Seems to be a good tree for pots.

My sweetheart lychee had a huge bloom last year but has only vegetative growth this year.

I just watched some videos from chinese growers. For certain varieties with dense flowers they thin the flower clusters twice, once when the cluster is about 3 inches and once after male flowers start to bloom. Thinning can be done hand or by spraying. For those varieties of you don’t thin flowers the tree would use so much nutrients in blooming which leads to insufficient  female flowers and poor fruit set.

I think sweetheart lychee fits this category of lychees - my tree sends out super dense flower clusters, and at least in California they seem to have poor production. I will adopt that method in the future
