I'm going to bump this up from time to time until the event happens so all the locals get to see it.  I remember going to my first sale in Dreher Park in the 90's.  The last one I went to at the fairgrounds in 2017 or 2018 was huge and very well attended.

They usually have lots of plants but also fertilizer and other items of interest.
It will be interesting to see how this year compares ...

Hope there is a good turnout
The turnout was huge--just short of a mob scene--from the minute the doors opened at 9AM, and people were snapping up trees and plants like nurseries don't exist and this would be their only opportunity.  I would say the inventory was comprehensive and generally healthy-looking, everything from avocado to white sapote.  There were several varieties of fruits like avocado and mango, but mostly pretty common ones like Carrie and Valencia Pride, and Simmonds and Brogdon, but happy to see Sweet Tart and Oro Negro.  I picked up one thing I came for, Sabara jaboticaba, and also saw Grimal ($75, a good price.)  There wasn't a good selection of bananas so I came away empty-handed in that department.  I didn't feel inspired to take any pictures--nothing photogenic about the scene, just a large ag building on the fairgrounds.

If you got there late, it was slim pickings but still interesting.
If you got there at 9 am, I am told there was a long line waiting to get in, several hundred people long.
I also learned that they did a lot of buying and by one or two in the afternoon, the floor was relatively sparse.

True that there was nothing there for collectors (and sorry that you made the drive for nothing), but unfair and inaccurate to characterize the trees as "crap" and the event as "terrible."  There were lots of families with young children, and they seemed very excited to be starting a food garden.  And members of the organization couldn't have been more helpful.

I got there by about 11.45 a.m. It was already sparse by then, but I got a nice looking green caimito. Nice size and healthy. Saw some nice avocado varieties, including Lamb Hass and Reed. Should have got there earlier.

I find that, while a great introductory/PR opportunity for the masses, the Rare Fruit Council sales are not your best avenue for scoring rare plants and germplasm if you are already a member of the TFF. The best finds and connections to quality/rare plants is the network right here on this forum. I never go with intentions of being impressed. I like seeing people hear botanical names pronounced for the first time as if they had just encountered an alien species. I go just to do the same thing I do at home: mill around aimlessly amid a bunch of trees.

I think if you are a member of this forum, you need to temper your expectations. But also, recognize the opportunity it affords an entirely new demographic.
Just my 2 cents...

I wouldn’t say terrible, just for regular plant enthusiast, wouldn’t that recommend  to a collector unless they just want some grafted everyday fruit trees, all the custard apples and red sugar apples were gone in like an hour or two

True, just take away the word RARE -_- very misleading. more like Common Fruit Council.
..guess thats why platforms like this forums are great <3

My guess is that when the organization was started, everything we take for granted now, even mangos, was considered rare.
