Ok, since I did not deliver on my previous white sapote advance list, here's what I'm thinking of doing for next year.

I have planted many white sapote seeds last year and now they are starting to get closer to grafting size (almost 1 yr old seedlings).

So, just curious if there is enough interest for me to graft some white sapote varieties on these future seedling plants for next year.
=======================================================
Sales to registered forum members for at least 6 months.
Not taking any advance orders, will not sell them until after the grafted plants are ready to ship.
=======================================================

Here's the list of white sapote on my tree that I may be able to take some cuttings for grafting soon.

White Sapote (Casimiroa edulis):
1. Supersweet -medium/large fruits, good tasting
2. Cuccio - large fruits, very good tasting
3. Clytia (from Jack), have fruits on tree now, good production
4. Nettie, have one fruit almost ready to taste
5. Mary Lane (Mark Lee), highly recommended by Mark.

Yellow Sapote (Casimiroa tetrameria)
6. Younghan's Gold - medium/large fruits, vey good tasting
7. Yellow Sapote seedling (Arboretum)- Joyce, my seedling tree, very good tasting. Many fruits now ripening on my tree.
8. C. tetrameria #7 (from Jack), have some large fruits on tree now.

The cost of the grafted tree (1yr old) could range from $30-$40 each, plus shipping cost.
The cost of the grafted tree is for the pots I need to purchase, seedling tree, and the scionwood.

If you think it should be lower in cost, let me know as well below.

Let me know if you would be interested in this, please tell me which ID number above is of interest.
I only have 28 varieties and these above are the ones I like and have fruited now except for Mary Lane.

If there are enough people interested, then I will graft the top 5 most requested below (popular/desirable) as my seedling trees become available for grafting.

If I decide to graft these, I will post the final top 5 varieties by the end of the month.

Thanks..

You could count me in for a cuccio and maybe 1 more based on your new fruit tastings.

Kaz,
how are your Mary Lane grafts doing?
Also how has the redlands done too?
My Mary Lane just sent out it's first flowers, but didn't set fruit.
Do you recommend growing this fruit compared to others like loquat, mango, etc.
Any varieties that stand out to you?
Thank you!

Ryan, I have the Mary Lane grafted from a few sources (you and Mark). Same with Redlands, have it from a few sources (you and a few others).

The Redlands are growing well now, starting to grow fast, but no flowers yet, maybe later this year or next.

The Mary Lane is finally starting to take off, but no flowers yet so I hope next year I get some flowers/fruits for first time and I can taste it.

I do like my white sapote varieties that have fruited, it has a different taste than loquats and mangos. I would recommend it for those who can grow it, easy to grow, low maintenance and there is plenty of flesh on each fruit that you only need to eat one like an apple. The tree also looks nice with the shape and leaves that are different than other fruit trees. Leaves rarely drop and make a mess. Only negative I hear from people with large trees is the fruit bombs if you let the tree get too large and can't pick the ripe fruits off. Both my seedling white sapote is probably a cross of the white sapote (McDill- C. ediulis) and yellow sapote (C. tetra) so they stay on the small size (8ft tall, small trunk diameter (2-3"). My other larger McDill seedling tree was a giant (gone now), about 20+ft and large trunk diameter (16") and I grew all three of these from seeds at the same time about 8 yrs ago.
Thanks for the write up Kaz.
I'm going to keep my tree because of it.
I tasted some mid tier seedling fruit, but not any of the named varieties, so I am hopeful they turn out good.

Kaz, will you be grafting White Sapote on Yellow Sapote in order to dwarf them (if I remember correctly)? If so, based in your descriptions thus far, I would be interested in #2, but only if it'd be dwarfed (my planting obsession has left little room for more, but a dwarf tree could be squeezed in somewhere). Thank you!

Thanks for clarifying, Kaz. I would be interested in #6 and #5, then, and possibly the other Yellow Sapote after your review of the fruit. Thanks!

ok, no problem.

I will post a photo of the C. tetrameria #7, still green but huge later today. I hope it tastes good, it seems to be a good fruit producer like the Cuccio and Younghan's Gold. It's the size of a large apple now.

Here's the yellow sapote I grafted of the c. tetrameria #7 from Jack.

"8. C. tetrameria #7 (from Jack), have some large fruits on tree now."
