I just found a fasciated fuyu persimmon growing on my tree, super rare?

I can't find any photos online of another one, has anyone seen this mutation before?  Very cool looking with 6 pedals  ;D

Very nice! Maybe it is a bud sport and will keep throwing fruit like that.

Interesting. Looks like 2 fruits merged to one. My lemon fruits do that, but I have not seen it on persimmon fruits.

sc4001992:
Brad, ok, maybe you do have something different. I just looked at 695 fruits from a Fuyu tree that I trimmed yesterday, and none had that type of fruits.

Check out my photos I just took today.

yes seems very rare, I haven't seen one before and I can't find any photos online.  I messaged the CRFG admins as well and they said they are asking persimmon experts to see if they have seen it before.

Sad thing is it seems there is no way to preserve this trait.  In the extremely unlikely chance there was a stable mutation on the branches tissue itself I'll try grafting if next season also gives a 6 pedal flower.  It would be so cool to have a full tree of 6 pedal fruit.

Last year I only got 5 ripe fruit out of hundreds from the tree because the squirrels stole almost all the unripe green ones, I'll bag this special fruit and hope for the best that I can provide a ripen fruit photo and a cross section.
