Our jujube tree (not sure what cultivar, lang maybe?) has been a very reliable producer ever since planted 3 years ago. We always joked that if everything else fails, this tree will do great (relative to its small size).

Well, this year it had lots of new growth, bloomed beautifully, but only very few fruits are set. Scratching my head and wondering why? I admit I did not feed my trees during the fruiting season, just like the past 2 years...

Thank you very much!

I'm guessing it's the water. The trees are drought-tolerant but the fruits are not.

I don't water mine enough either. Last year the tree that's in the corner getting sprinkler water from the neighbor's lawn did really well. All the green onions in that area did really well too. This year they look sadder.

I don't know much about fertilizers so I'm probably under fertilizing most of my plants too.

Don't know if this applies to you but many plants if they have high N instead of higher P and K ratio will concentrate on vegetative growing rather flowering, maybe your soil naturally has low P and K?

Thank you all! We deeply water all trees every three days or so. The tree did bloom beautifully, but out of hundreds of flowers less than 10 fruits got set  :'(  Whatever we did wrong, I really wish not to repeat it next year...

My jujube plant flowers stink like dog poop. No wonder the main pollinators are house flies! ;D

Tons of flowers and few fruits = likely pollination problem?
Idk, we regularly have lots of bees...

Okay. If it's not the water then the next thing I want to blame is the weather. ;D

My Lang/Li is flowering right now and making fruits. The GA866 finished and has maybe 5. The Sherwood finished and I can't find the fruits that had already set. The unknown good tasting root sucker is still flowering but already has some fruits sizing up. I plan to air layer it since it doesn't seem to be producing suckers. I probably under-watered it.

could be... my neighbour said it's a bad jujube year for them as well... I wonder if it's as bad as ours.

I am counting exactly 4 fruits sitting on the tree. Last year a much smaller tree had every single branch heavily loaded  :'(

My root sucker and Lang are holding a good crop right now. The 2 newly planted jujubes are barely holding fruit.

Still not enough of a crop to last through the year. That's the end goal.

The tree shed off its brown leaves, pushed for all new green growth and flowers.
Poor little ones all confused by this year's weather!

My Sherwood is doing the same. But the weather might cool down soon.
