It’s been almost 3 month , today I decided to remove the AirLayer. Good amount of roots , I did loose some in the process, I trimmed the tree and placed it in an indirect sunlight location for insert.
I did this mango tree Air-Layer approximately 2.5 month ago , I see nice Reddish Roots , they haven’t poke thru the plastic bag as of yet , when is it safe to server the branch from the mother tree?
I know the preferred method of propagation of mango trees is grafting. Lately Iv been watching Hindu videos on air layering, I decided to try and today I saw a thick reddish root poking thru the plastic bag 👍🏼.
I decided to try this method , I believe it was listed by (Sapote ) .
For those of you who are experienced with this method , does this look correct? The scion is a pencil thick , and has 2 buds on top . I made sure the rubber bands didn’t cover any buds .
I have a Maha that is growing out of control , where I live I have to keep a low profile with my fruit trees , No matter how hard I prune it , it comes back with high vigor.
So I would like to top work with : Sugar Loaf - Pickering- OS- M4
The Question is , when would it be a good time to cut back the Maha to prep for top working in SF?
This week (2) avocado trees will be arriving via mail . (1) Gwen (1) Holiday. Once I remove them from the box , I will leave them in a shady location for 1-2 weeks . Question : Should I plant them after the 2 weeks or wait till March to plant in ground in SWFL? Thanks Ed

I wanted to share this method im using to graft Mango & Avocado trees , my hand cuts are not upto par like most of you grafting experts . So I used my wife veggie slicer for my Scions , makes a great perfect cut all the time for me . So far it’s working for me better that making the V Cut by hand .
