Tropical Fruit Discussion / Sugar apple shelf life and storage

Hey guys, I'm sure it's been asked but everything I found just said "short" so if I order some on eBay, how long will I have to eat it or can I store it somehow and keep the same quality?

Anyone have any Seeds from cultivars or anyone have any good prices for some grafted or seedling trees?  I want to try some fruit if I can find it.  I live in the foothills of NC so I should find it wild but haven't yet :/

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: a nice variety of fruits harvested today

Nice, I've never eaten any of those, of any variety/cultivar lol.  Never ate an annona, myrciaria, Eugenia, miracle Fruit, etc.  Pretty sure I'm missing out considering how much I love fruit.  Also agree on those Seeds.  I've been looking for/waiting on red or purple squamosa seeds for awhile but not wanting to buy from random ebayers really, especially when they want so much $ for them.  Congrats on the harvest though.  Nothing better than picking a plate full of  fruit from your own trees and shrubs.  Really makes those months of work before worth it.  Please let me know when some seeds do come available

Well that stinks lol.  Wanted to try some, they look delicious.  I have a greenhouse but its unheated and small.  I could accommodate maybe something 6-8 feet tall and 6 feet wide without taking my other stuff out but that would be too much.  Guess I'll just germinate the Seeds and sale them off :(.  That's a downer.  I want a white sapote maybe that's a better choice if I can find one from a forum member or something.  Thanks for letting me know

Has anyone tried growing this in a pot?  How about in a cooler climate?  I'm zone 7 in NC and I'm wondering if it would grow and Fruit plus taste good?  Any thoughts?

Did you have it shipped?  They don't give any shipping prices so I'm just curious what it cost if you did.

Ya I guess knowing that would have helped me a little but being the newbie I am, I didn't.  Idk if they are quite 3 feet.  The girth of the trunk is smaller than a pencil, I do know that.

First I want to say I'm not knocking on this seller I just want the opinion of the forum.  Seems to happen fairly enough, at least to me lol.  Here is the picture and the description states this is the average shipping size and your plants should be close to this.

When I get home tonight I'll upload the pictures of the trees I received today.  Again I'm not trying to talk bad about the seller.  Until then how big you guys think the trees in that pic are?  What would you expect to receive?  I didn't get ripped off by any means.  Just expected something different.

Anyone?  I'd buy them but FruitLovers is the only place I know of who sales Scions for Star Fruit and you have to buy $100 worth a time.  I only have these two trees that are even big enough to graft so I can't buy that much.  If someone can then I'll owe you.  I'll repay you somehow someday lol.  I will obviously pay for these Scions and shipping

64
Would it be possible to ship the red Jaboticaba with some seeds?  I'm wanting Seeds and wouldn't mind trying Jabo for the first time ever.  I assume the red Jabo taste amazing enough to hook me for life :).  Heard good things about Grimal also but I'll take anything I can get since I've never had any lol.

65
Ya I got some on the way now.  Thank you.  Anyone have acions they could part with?

I got the Carambola trees on the way.  Now does anyone have any scions?  I'm not gonna be too "picky".  Kari, Bell,  Dwarf Maher, Fwang Tong, Hart lol whatever because its most likelt better than what it will grow otherwise.  Thanks

Hey, I'm also interested in seeds or seedling.  There are some grafted ones on Ebay of Kampong Mauve just so you know.

68
I'm also interested if they become available.  Please keep me updated.

Anyone know basic info about it?  I can't find much.  What does it taste like?  Sweet?  Sour?  Custard-like flesh?  What is the low temp it can probably take?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / TC'd Jaboticaba
« on: July 27, 2015, 03:49:28 AM »
Ive been searching and can not find any information on Jaboticaba's grown from tissue culture.  My main question is do they fruit?  If so, is it any quicker than a seedling?  I don't know much about tissue culture except how some figs grown from TC haven't fruited or took a very long time compared to cuttings.  I've seen post talking about how much many of you love Jabo's and figured someone would possible know something.  Any info is appreciated.

If you order scions from USDA do you typically get a certain size?  Would it be thin enough to do a veneer graft like you described or would the cleft be better for these?
