Any idea as to what kind of Persimmon?
« on: October 18, 2022, 04:07:02 PM »
These are from Citrus County, FL. I'm guessing Hachiya or Saijo? Thanks!

oh, forgot to ask how large your fruits are. The Hachiya is a large fruit, about 3"-4" long, also says they ripen from Nov-Dec so yours seems to be ripe early.

I have a rootstock tree shoot on my Matsumoto wase that I let grow out until it fruited, and it has similar shaped fruits, but it is very small, about 1-2" long. Here's my rootstock/sucker fruits.

These are 3" tall and 2.5" across at the widest part.

I don't see the pic/s?

Thanks!

Also, these are not soft yet. They were a gift from a friend and I'm hoping to be able to tell her what kind they are.

Yes, if it's a Hachiya then you want to wait until it softens up before you eat it with a spoon.

Pics showed up now! I think you mean Hachiya, not Fuyu? Thanks again, Kaz!
