Variation within E. Stipitata?
« on: October 30, 2024, 03:30:42 PM »
Hey everyone, is there variation between seedlings of E. Stipitata or are they pretty much the same? I know some Eugenias vary between seedlings but can't find info about E.Stipitata specifically. My main reason is I have grown out a bunch and wanted to know if it was worth keeping multiple to look for any new variations or its not worth it. Thanks!

There is always going to be some variation, either good or bad, small or large, with seedlings. Since they're pretty well sour as hell, I don't think it's going to be that important. Sort of like pitangatuba. Yeah, maybe one is 1-2 brix better and you classify it as "sweet" , but anyone else unfamiliar would be puckered up for an hour and kind of mad at you for serving them one.

Both my seedling plants have grown baseball sized fruits, just they didn't complete cause it was too cold / rainy here.

It's too sour lol.
I like victoriana better though flavorwise.
Also sour too, but better flavor allows for better processed goods.
