For Sale: New re-Release- Loquat Cuttings of KT4-Teardrop
« on: May 05, 2025, 05:46:49 PM »
I had this seedling tree growing for a while now, but I don't think I released it as a new seedling variety so here it is.

My tree is large enough that I can release some scion cuttings to our TFF members now. It will be a one-time sale of this variety.

Here's the Sale:
1. You must have purchased or traded with me before, no Exceptions.
2. KT4-Teardrop loquat cutting, $10 each, length of scions about 5-8", diameter will be 1/4"-3/8" hardened branch to graft.  Limited to one scion per member.
3. Shipping cost is $11, small flat rate box, priority mail (5"x8"x2")
4. Total Cost => $21
5. Sales to lower 48 states.
6. PayPal payment only, Friends & Family
7. Send me a PM if interested, don't pay until I say you can buy one.

Description of KT4-Teardrop loquat:
- fruits are medium to large, about the same size as my Vista White. Definitely large size than Big Jim White.
- fruit shape seems to be either teardrop (reason for the name) and other times some fruits are round. But always on the medium to large size.
- Orange flesh
- Taste is very good, as good as Big Jim.
- took brix reading =17
I will post the photos of the fruits later tonight.

Those people who purchase the cutting this week may get 1 fruit to taste from this bunch shown below. The brix should range from brix=15-17.

Here's the photos of KT4-Teardrop taken this week.

This is how the round shaped fruits will look like. Either type of shape of fruits on this tree has a lot on each fruit cluster.

KT4-Teardrop, previous years photos.

This picture below shows the correct orange color when the fruit is ripe.

So these lighter colored yellow fruits were not ripe yet. They should be dark orange to get the brix =17.

Yup, just noticed it. Now I see why I thought it was not as sweet before. It needs to be dark orange, then the brix =17. When it is light orange/yellow it has some sour taste and brix is less than 11.

So, it turns out it is much sweeter than I originally thought.

I adjusted the new release now to $10 each since it is sweeter than Big jim.

I noticed one nice thing about KT4-Teardrop, it seems to have a lot of fruits in each cluster as shown in the photos. So you will get more fruits to eat.

Some of my other varieties like KT6-Karen, KT26-Lisa #1, that have the highest brix readings with the white flesh are smaller size fruits, and they do not grow in large clusters.

My Vista White is a late ripening fruit, it still has half green fruits and others are just starting to turn yellow now while majority of my loquat varieties are done already.
